DeshTak.com is committed to practising independent, accurate and responsible journalism in the public interest. Our editorial decisions are guided by truth, fairness, and accountability towards our readers and the wider society.

1. Purpose and Scope

• This Editorial Policy applies to all content published on DeshTak.com, including news reports, articles, opinions, analyses, videos, photos, and social media posts managed by our team.

• It covers our standards for accuracy, fairness, impartiality, sourcing, corrections, and ethical conduct of editors, reporters, contributors, and freelancers associated with DeshTak.com.​

2. Accuracy, Verification and Fairness

• We strive to ensure that all factual content is accurate, well‑sourced, and clearly presented. Editors and reporters are expected to verify information from multiple credible sources before publication wherever possible.

• Quotes, statistics, names, designations, dates and locations must be carefully checked. Where uncertainty exists, we either verify before publishing or clearly label the information as unconfirmed or based on available reports.

• We aim to present news in a fair and balanced way, especially on contentious or sensitive issues, by seeking and reflecting relevant sides of a story.

3. Independence, Impartiality and Conflicts of Interest

• DeshTak.com maintains editorial independence from political parties, governments, advertisers, corporate groups, and any other special interests. Editorial decisions are taken by the newsroom and not by advertisers or external entities.

• Straight news reports aim for objectivity, avoiding personal opinions and assumptions by the reporter. Language should be neutral, clear, and respectful.

• Opinion pieces, editorials, or analysis articles may contain views or interpretations, but these must be clearly labelled as “Opinion”, “Editorial”, “Analysis”, or similar, so readers can distinguish them from factual news reporting.​

• Even in opinion content, we expect writers to rely on accurate facts, avoid misinformation, and maintain a civil and non‑defamatory tone.​

5. Sourcing, Attribution and Anonymity

• We seek to rely on direct, first‑hand or well‑established sources wherever possible. Information from third‑party outlets, press releases or agencies must be attributed clearly.

• Anonymous sources may be used in exceptional cases where there is a strong public‑interest reason, potential risk to the source, and no other practical way to obtain the information. In such cases, editors must understand the identity and credibility of the source, and the article should explain why anonymity is being granted.​

• We avoid plagiarism in all forms. Copying substantial parts of other work without attribution is strictly prohibited.​

6. Sensitive Content: Privacy, Minors and Trauma

• DeshTak.com does not publish content that promotes hate, violence, or discrimination against any individual or group on the basis of religion, caste, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, disability or any other protected characteristic.

• We avoid stereotypes and biased language, and we do not allow our platforms to be used for direct incitement of violence or unlawful activities.

8. Corrections, Updates and Clarifications

• Despite our best efforts, errors may occasionally occur. When we identify an error or it is brought to our attention, we follow our separate Corrections Policy to fix it transparently and promptly.

• Substantive changes to a published article (such as corrections of key facts, addition of important context, or major updates in a developing story) are clearly indicated to readers through a correction, clarification or update note.

9. User‑Generated Content and Comments (if enabled)

• Where DeshTak.com allows comments or user‑generated content, users are expected to follow basic rules of civility and legality. Content that includes abuse, defamation, spam, hate speech or explicit incitement may be moderated, edited, or removed.​

• Repeated violations of our community standards may result in restrictions or blocking of user accounts or IPs, at our discretion.​
