Donald Trump’s Plea: ‘Work With Us’ on Trade & Russia
Digital Desk, New Delhi: US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright met with India’s Minister of External Affairs to discuss collaboration between the two nations. He stated that the United States is working with its allies to find new ways to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Wright appealed to India to stop purchasing Russian oil, arguing that it only serves to fund and escalate the conflict. America has explicitly requested India to buy oil from other countries instead of Russia, kicking off talks on energy and trade cooperation between the two nations. The US Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, noted that he met with India’s External Affairs Minister and initiated a dialogue on future cooperation and direction for both countries. He reiterated that the US is actively seeking new strategies with its allies to bring the Russia-Ukraine war to a close.

Donald Trump Stance on the Conflict
Chris Wright added that President Donald Trump also wants this war to end as quickly as possible to alleviate global tension. “I am fully prepared for energy and trade cooperation. India and the US have a bright future, but we must work together to put more pressure on Russia to end this war,” he stated. Speaking about the India-Russia oil trade, Wright said that India does not need to buy Russian oil because many other countries are selling it. He explained that India is purchasing Russian oil because it is cheap, as Russia is forced to sell it at a discount. However, he warned, “Buying this oil is giving money to a person who is killing thousands of people every week.”
Why America Wants India to Stop Buying Russian Oil
Wright further elaborated that the US wants India to stop purchasing oil from Russia and instead buy it from other nations. He also mentioned that the US itself can sell oil to India. He argued that rather than choosing cheap oil, India should support efforts to end the war. Chris Wright made it clear that the US does not want to punish India. Instead, America wants the war to end and for the relationship between India and the US to grow stronger. “We want India to work with us. We see a significant future with India in energy and trade,” he concluded.
